Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night...

Even the best and most robustly-designed software needs to be updated and maintained. HosPortal has recently had an interesting experience to keep ahead of the spam filters used on almost every commercial email service. Like the US Postal Service (or the Angarium, for the classically minded) we take our communications seriously.HosPortal's outward emails are critical to the effective performance of many hospitals, whether because of our automated reminders, or messages sent by users via the Notify feature. But by design users can nominate any email address, whether it be provided by a government health department, Gmail, or one of a myriad of other personal or corporate email systems.Getting through the hundreds of different spam filters is a constant challenge. We exclusively used Sendgrid to manage our emails, which is one of the most widely-used and popular email systems...but it is also popular with spam marketers. So our bounces recently started to go up.After some research we chose Postmark as an alternative, which advertises itself as specifically designed for mission-critical (as compared to marketing) emails. It solved all our bounces for the users we were struggling with...but the day after we went live we realised it created bounces in others who were previously fine.So we now use a combination of both and - over the last few days - we have not had a single bounce.
